From learning digital illustration techniques to exploring future career pathways, Kent Ridge Secondary School students experienced how creativity, technology and design can come together during Make The Change’s Digital Drawing Programme.

Bringing Creative Ideas to Life

Across three sessions in October 2026, students explored digital drawing on iPad using Procreate. They developed ideas from a creative brief, worked on concept development and mood boards, and practiced digital illustration techniques such as sketching, layering and applying color.

The programme encouraged students to think beyond the tools. They considered how visual choices communicate ideas, refined their artwork through feedback, and learned how to present creative work with confidence.

From Artwork to Portfolio

As their illustrations took shape, students considered how to curate and explain their creative process. Their final work offered an opportunity to reflect on their decisions, articulate their artistic intent and see how individual pieces can contribute to a portfolio.

A Visit to Make The Change

To connect classroom learning with the world of work, students also visited the Make The Change office. Experiencing a creative workplace gave them a glimpse of how creative ideas are developed and communicated beyond school.

A highlight of the visit was a sharing by Mr Kenji Choo, Academic Director of MAD School, who spoke to students about what it takes to pursue a career in the creative industry. The session helped students connect the skills they were practicing with potential pathways in design and related creative fields.

Building Skills for the Future

Digital drawing is more than learning an app. Throughout the programme, students had opportunities to practice creative confidence, critical thinking, communication and resilience as they moved from early ideas to finished pieces.

At Make The Change, we believe that design and education can empower young people to explore possibilities, express themselves and make a positive impact. We thank Kent Ridge Secondary School for the opportunity to learn and create together.
